Devonta Smith didn’t hold back on the mistakes the Philadelphia Eagles committed in their underwhelming 27-7 loss to the Chicago Bears on Monday night.

Smith has been playing in the NFL since 2021, going through his sixth season with the Eagles. This season is unique as he embraced responsibilities of top receiver after Philadelphia traded AJ Brown to the New England Patriots this past offseason.

Smith was active in the receiving game, but Philadelphia was unable to get him a touchdown as the offense faltered in their loss under the primetime lights. The standout receiver reflected on the loss after the game, per reporter Tim McManus. He kept it plain and simple when it comes to the costly errors the team makes throughout the contest.

“You turn the ball over, you’re going to get your a** whooped,” Smith said.

How Devonta Smith, Eagles played against Bears

Devonta Smith knows the Eagles can perform better than they did against the Bears, especially on offense. However, the interception and fumble they committed will greatly cost them in pivotal games.

Chicago controlled most of the game from start to finish. They shut down Philadelphia’s attack after conceding a touchdown in the second quarter, holding them scoreless for the entire second half.

Jalen Hurts underperformed in this road contest despite scoring the lone touchdown in this game. He only completed 16 out of 25 passes for 153 yards while rushing four times for 25 yards.

Saquon Barkley led the rushing attack with 15 carries for 82 yards. Smith topped all receivers with six catches for 65 yards, Dontayvion Wicks came next with two receptions for 32 yards, while Makai Lemon caught three passes for 29 yards.

The Eagles will look to bounce back in their next matchup, being at home. They host the Los Angeles Rams in Week 4 as kickoff commences on Oct. 4 at 1 p.m. ET.
